Description
The minimal job performance standards required to work as a fire investigator in the public and private sectors are outlined in the 2022 edition of NFPA 1033, Standard for Professional Qualifications for Fire Investigator. All fire investigations, including those involving vehicles, the outdoors, and other non-structural fires, must adhere to this standard. In the public and private sectors, employees must be equipped with the most recent information to avoid arson, fire hazards, and other dangers. Because it is customary for fire investigators to employ both standards, updates were made to bring the 2022 edition of NFPA 1033, Standard for Professional Qualifications for Fire Investigator, more closely in line with NFPA 921, Guide for Fire and Explosion Investigations. Additionally, requirements were modified and made simpler for end users.
